Frequently Asked Questions
Want to know more? Here are some of our frequently asked questions and their answers!
Q: What should I wear fishing?
A: It will depend on the weather and the trip we're taking! Layers are smart - plan for the weather to change during the day. We do have a couple pairs of waders, but usually best if you bring your own waders & boots. Wear a hat, polarized sunglasses, and sunscreen.
Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Maybe! Depends where we are going and the conditions and the size / behavior of your dog. Some of our locations are dog-friendly - let's discuss!
Q: What fishing licenses do I need?
A: If we fish private waters, you will not need a license. If we fish public waters, you will need a Virginia freshwater license and trout stamp, and if we fish a in a National Forest, you will need a National Forest Stamp. If we go into the Shenandoah park, we will need to get a park pass. This park pass will be paid for by Ridge & Rat. We can provide all this detail upon booking your specific trip!
